Is A Dog the Missing Piece in Your Life?
Do you ever feel like something is missing in your life? There is a huge secret you need to know. Animals can bring a lot to our lives. Studies show that owning a dog can improve your emotional and physical wellbeing. Take a look at the ways you could enhance life by caring for an animal.
Dog or Cat
There are two types of people in this world. You are either a cat person or a dog person. There are those unique animal lovers in the middle that can’t decide and love both. We all know deep down they have a favorite. The Washington Post published a study done by the General Social Survey to see which pet brought more happiness. They found that 39% of Americans do not have any pets. Families with a dog make up 33% of Americans, and cat only at 11%. Those special people with both are at 14%. The dog only families reported to be the happiest at 36%, those with only cats were far below at only 18% saying they were very happy.
Support
Our lives are filled with so much drama and stress. Taking care of an animal may seem like the last thing that you would want to do at the end of a tiring day. Purina did a Pets and People Survey that is proving that wrong. They found that dogs can make us feel better. Those with high stress may want to run to adopt a puppy. Among dog owners, 62% thought that they helped them destress. There are also 55% that after hearing bad news, know their dog provides emotional comfort. Emotional support and being able to reduce our stress will only improve our lives.
Love
There needs to be more love in the world. Get a dog and start feeling more love in your life. Psychology Today reported that 94% felt that their dog was a family member. We worry about those we care about, 82% of dog owners do just that when they have to leave their dog alone. Six out of every ten Millennials told Dog Time that they revolve their social plans around the needs of their dogs. And 55% of those Millennials said that their dog ate better quality food than they did. If that is not loving. I don’t know what it is.
Breed Selector
Are you convinced that you need to get a dog? The hardest choice is what breed. There are so many to choose from, and every year it seems they create a new one. The AKC has a questionnaire you can take to help you decide. You have to consider more than just their look. They ask questions about your lifestyle to match you with a breed that will fit you. Getting a dog that doesn’t meet your needs may not get the same results as one that does.
Make your life better by finding room in your heart for the perfect dog.
